If you want to send and receive email in Thai, there are two things to
concern, Font and Encoding.
Font
Font is a image of character which will be show on monitor screen. There are two kind of fonts, Fixed Font and Variable or Proportional Fonts. Thai Fix Fonts are "DB ThaiTextFixed", "LotusSuttabun", "Courier Thai". Thai Variable Fonts are Fonts which its suffix name is "UPC" such as "AngsanaUPC", "BrowalliaUPC", etc.
If you don't have the Thai Fonts you must Download it from some resources and install it with control panel in Windows.
Encoding
Encoding will rearange fonts in appropriated position and characters. So that you should set up Encoding to be Thai also.
How to set Outlook 2003 to display Thai language
1. Must be confirm that your windows system is set for Thai language completely.
You can see all Thai characters in all programs and can use Thai keyboard without any problem.2. Set Menu "Tools -> Options --> Mail Format --> International Options" deselect 'Auto Select encoding for outgoing Messages' and then select menu 'Prefered encoding for outgoing messages' to 'Thai (Windows)'
How to set Outlook Express to display Thai language
1. Set Menu "Tools -> Options --> Read --> Fonts" select "Font Settings" to Thai and select Thai Proportional Fonts and Fixed Font which do you want to display. And press "Set as Default" to set Thai as default encoding.
2. Set Menu "Tools -> Options --> Read --> Internatinal Settings" set "Use default encoding for all incoming messages". If you don't set Thai as default encoding, you must not select "Use default encoding for all incoming messages" so that the email which be set other encoding can change encoding by itself.
3. Set Menu "Tools -> Options --> Send --> Internatinal Settings" set "Default Encoding" to Thai. And set "Mail Sending Format" in "HTML Settings" and "Plain Text Settings" , Encode Text Using "None" and Allow 8-bit character in headers.
How to set Netscape Mail to display Thai language
1. Set Menu "Edit --> Preferences --> Apperance --> Fonts" select Encoding = "User Defined" and set Thai Variable Fonts and Thai Fixed Font as you want.
2. Set Menu "View --> Character Set" select "User Defined" encoding and come again to set "Set Default Encoding" then User Defined will be default encoding.
ถ้าท่านต้องการจะรับและส่ง Email ในภาษาไทย Font และ Encoding จะต้อง มีการกำหนด ที่เหมาะสม
Font

Encoding คือวิธีการจัดตัวอักษร ให้ถูกต้องตามอักขระ และรหัสที่ควรจะเป็น ดังนั้น การแสดง ภาษาไทย จำเป็นต้องกำหนด Encoding ให้เป็นไทยด้วย
วิธีกำหนดค่าให้ Outlook 2003 ใช้งานกับภาษาไทย
1. ต้องตรวจสอบและมั่นใจว่าระบบปฏิบัติการ Windows ที่ใช้อยู่ ได้มีการติดตั้งภาษาไทยอย่างสมบูรณ์ จะสามารถอ่านภาษาไทยได้ทุกโปรแกรม และ สามารถใช้ keyboard ภาษาไทยโดยไม่พบปัญหาใดๆ 2. เลือก menu "Tools -> Options --> Mail Format --> International Options" จากนั้นไม่เลือก 'Auto Select encoding for outgoing Messages' และเลือกรายการ 'Prefered encoding for outgoing messages' เป็น 'Thai (Windows)'
วิธีกำหนดค่าให้ Outlook Express ใช้งานกับภาษาไทย
1. จาก Menu "Tools -> Options --> Read --> Fonts" เลือกกำหนด "Font Settings" ให้เป็น Thai และเลือก Thai Font ของ Proportional Fonts and Fixed Font ในแบบที่ต้องการ จากนั้นกดปุ่ม "Set as Default" เพื่อให้ Thai เป็นแบบ Encoding ที่บังคับแต่ต้น 2. จาก Menu "Tools -> Options --> Read --> Internatinal Settings" เลือกให้เป็น "Use default encoding for all incoming messages" เพื่อใช้ Encoding นี้ทุก Email ที่เข้ามา แต่ถ้าไม่กำหนด Thai ให้เป็น Default Encoding จะต้องไม่กำหนดให้ทุก Email ใช้ Encoding นั้น เพื่อให้ Email สามารถเปลี่ยน Encoding เองได้ตามที่ส่งมา 3. จาก Menu "Tools -> Options --> Send --> Internatinal Settings" ให้กำหนด "Default Encoding" เป็น Thai และเข้าไปกำหนดใน "Mail Sending Format" ข้อ "HTML Settings" และข้อ "Plain Text Settings" ให้ Encoding Text โดย "None" และ สามารถใช้อักษร 8-bit ที่ headers
วิธีกำหนดค่าให้ Netscape Mail ใช้งานกับภาษาไทย
